The robots, of course, are the highlights of the series, seeing the old Getter Robo in motion is great, it's well animated, and it gets even better when it gets 'upgraded' to Black Getter, AKA the only mecha I know that just looks TIRED.

The way the Getter machines transform in Armageddon is fun, just embracing the morphing and miscolouring as the machines combine into different modes.
Also Ryoma is absolutely stealing the show with every scene he is in, like Jesus Christ, holy shit, fuck man.

Also can I just say how much I like the new Zaku?
Spherical tanks mounted straight into the thighs is a genius idea, the quad tanks are mounted next to the hip joints symmetrically so rotating problem is reduced, and it's a good way of showing how outdated the Zaku is as no other design does this.

Kinda but not quite, I'm mostly thinking of Votoms, which has an interesting way of giving what I want because the pilots are wearing clear helmet that are covered by goggles and oxygen tube, leaving just a little bit of their humanities out.
