Post you from a different era.
1969 or 1970, when we all listened to the best music that ever has been, became vegetarians, and despised Nixon and Agnew

Lots of sky pictures this evening and for good reason. Why are mine pinker than the others I've seen? (These were right around 5 PM in Musashino-shi, Tokyo.)

TBS on today's late afternoon news show had this analysis of five possible candidates for the LDP leadership post. It's subjective and biased, but not so far off the mark. Esp. for someone strongly biased toward Hayashi as I am. (His chances are slim, even if he is not.)

Perplexity does pretty well with a question like this. I wonder how other AI services do. (I like the people on the populist side but personally tend toward the abundance side. Which is another reason I hate the way so many key Bluesky people tend to divide into camps that ostracize others.)

Here is Ishiba testifying before a Diet committee this morning that Trump is not an ordinary person who plays by the rules. Why am I not seeing more of this in the news? Seems like a big deal.

Dom. Lafage Miraflors Blanc is an interesting wine, and its bottle makes a nice vase (shown in the window of our entranceway alongside a repurposed whisky bottle)

Have had it three times this year, fresh from our local fish stop, but never buy it on the "official" days.

Meiji has been selling Bulgarian yoghurt (明治ブルガリアヨーグルト) since the 1970s. During that time, the Bulgarian population has gone from a peak of nearly 9 million in 1985 to 6.4 million today, due to low life expectancy. Is this really the image Meiji was looking for?

In case you've forgotten or were not around for the early Netscape days of the internet. (This is still more usable than many modern websites.)

Uni (sea urchin) is at its cheapest in a long time and I've been working hard with no end in sight, so tonight I splurged. (That's my almost-namesake sake in the background.)

In 2012, we were given the 旭山桜 (Asahiyamazakura) bonsai on the right. Later my wife decided to plant it in a corner of our garden. It has grown up to be full-blown cherry tree (left)

Continuing with the news telops on cooking programs series, this was April 23, 2009, when SMAP member Kusanagi Tsuyoshi was arrested for public nudity in a Tokyo park. He famously asked, "Why is being nude a crime?" He has since enjoyed a busy career, including narration work for NHK's "Buratamori."
