Thinking about contemporary characters, the Nazi type is easy to spot. But who today are the never a Nazi, never accommodate or equivocate types? I’m reminded of a story about a West German father talking to his children in the Sixties. “Entweder war ich feige, Trottel oder Verbrecher. Du wählst.”
