also, i think there were some earlier points where i had to hold my tongue about ollie cuz, like, yeah, the point is that he's getting neglected and mistreated. but you can't quite fully talk about that without this context.

and, like, "not with a bang but with a whimper" is maybe kinda anticlimactic but in a way that feels true-to-life - sometimes, things just fall apart.

but I don't really see a grand apocalyptic reveal occurring and any reform to the structure would feel hollow.

tbh i've always expected that dorley-the-institution will end with covid. the tensions suggest that the story will culminate with *something* happening to dorley,

dorley is very much a story about how the upper class can destroy lives through carelessness or malice, so i guess we'll see how elle navigates this

somewhat more willing to respect the self-determination of the dorley girls, but we can see how one of the major motivating forces for her involvement in dorley is the fact that it appeals to the prurient interest to her.

I feel like at some point we're gonna see someone pull the "we're not so different, you and i" thing with elle. and the thing is, they'd be right! Elle really isn't that different from the people she opposes -

There's a lot of incentive to conceptualize transness as an immutable characteristic - threats of conversion therapy and anti discrimination laws that only protect things that are immutable come to mind (see US vs Skrmetti). So, you don't really get much conversation about "becoming trans".
