#smallgamestudio got strung along on strings yesterday during my first scripting lesson in unity :-] kind-of sort-of takes me back to my web design days. as I write this, there is a fly struggling to hold onto its last vestiges of life next to my laptop :(

#smallgamestudio enjoyed Karth’s talk on what makes generative content effective (and ineffective) in games. he talks about AI as a tool that the developer must work with instead of having it do everything for you—a mindset I wish more of us had

also played “catacombs of solaris” 😌 after realizing what made it trippy (it depends on what the screen looks like when you stop moving) we made it our goal to fill the screen with a color of our choice (ex. in the 2nd photo we manipulated the maze to be all blue) #smallgamestudio

played “daughters of memory” by SomeSaltyGames and necropocene! loved the dialogue of the muses! I also tested the boundaries of the island and eventually found a way to well, fall off of it. YEAH! #smallgamestudio

played "the trolley" from essay games :] found out that you could still move (albeit sloooowly) even when presented w/ a dialogue choice, so I crawled my way through town. unfortunately that meant I couldn't experience much of the game in my limited time playing it #smallgamestudio

practicing room-making for project 1. my first piece of furniture: a bed! I made those by tweaking the "capsule" 3D objects. those spindly things in the back are called "tree" 3D objects, according to unity. they're not wrong, they are tree-shaped but... how do I add the leaves? #smallgamestudio

my final scene for project 0 :] really like using the transparent shader. if you turn the smoothness up to 1 w/ the transparent shader, you get this candy-like look (see the yellow sphere I'm standing on + the periwinkle sphere next to it). forbidden gummies, forreal. #smallgamestudio

Made a set of stairs using the GameObject thingamabob and thought it would be very stylish and abstract of me to put a bunch of stairs leading nowhere up in the sky. I was going to call it stair-ry night and everything. Then I realized my scene was set in the daytime. #smallgamestudio
