Great contributions from the WBS MBA students for our live lesson on Napoleon and the leadership life cycle this evening - always a fun session to teach!

The @mrcwarwick.bsky.social & library have an exhibition for @uni-of-warwick.bsky.social 60th anniversary. Alumni: are you coming to campus next month to see how the university has changed? Do you have old languages booklets/ brochures/ module outlines still? Please share! @warwick-smlc.bsky.social

The magnificent trail that members of heritage organisation St Vincent & the Grenadines produced (with historical advice from my research team @warwick-smlc.bsky.social) for @stpaulscathedral.bsky.social has been up a year. Have you seen it yet? www.stpauls.co.uk/war-and-resi... #BlackHistoryMonth

It’s funny to be on campus for a @uni-of-warwick.bsky.social open day as a parent rather than as staff! Looking forward to learning more about some of the things my fabulous faculty of arts colleagues get up to!

A great view of the cathedral from my meeting at Coventry university this afternoon to discuss relaunching the Coventry City of Languages initiative @covlanguages.bsky.social

I’ve deleted my academia profile rather than agree to their terms and conditions.

Really enjoyed tonight’s talk by David Lees @warwick-smlc.bsky.social at @coventrycathedral.bsky.social on WWII bombings in France & what the French learned from Coventry. It’s part of our language learners as peace makers project for @uni-of-warwick.bsky.social 60th anniversary celebrations

Had a lovely time catching up with @catrionaseth.bsky.social today - always a pleasure to work together!

Off to Oxford to examine a thesis - I don’t own my academic gown as Warwick hires one for me for graduations so I’ve had to dust off a suit and my best boots!

Chapeau to Côte brasserie for this GCSE results day offer! And many congratulations to anyone who has done well in a languages GCSE and is carrying on with it at A-level ❤️

What a joy to see photos and videos of the Owia summer school this week - staff have been sharing their knowledge of St Vincent’s history, including the revolutionaries brought to Portchester Castle as prisoners of war, through games, crafts and stories. For more see warwick.ac.uk/fac/arts/mod...

Very much enjoyed doing some recording at the BBC today - and squeezed in time at the British Library as a bonus!

Really pleased that Jacque Roberts from SV2G was able to come to campus today to help celebrate our @warwickengages.bsky.social award for inspiring engagement- Abigail and I couldn’t have won it without her!

I’m delighted that Abigail Coppins’ name is finally back on the English Heritage webpages she wrote about the Black prisoners of war at Portchester Castle www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/places... hopefully this will discourage any more writers from taking her research and not acknowledging it… 🗃️

Sometimes the archives create more questions than they answer - what happened in Douai for this to be added into their theatre regulations?!

I’ve been listening to past IGCSE listening papers in French and am very disappointed by how they seem to be set up both to trick students and make autistic students guess how a neurotypical mind works. They don’t really seem to be about rewarding what you know but about catching you out. Why?

A little light revision today ahead of a meeting on Monday

Fascinating work-in-progress paper from @lm8son.bsky.social today, turning on its head everything we thought we knew about Carrier & the noyades & teasing out the connections between revolutionary violence in Nantes & transatlantic slavery. Thank you, Laura - you’ve given us plenty to think about!

The first picture is the ground-floor theatre in the keep. But here are 2 pictures to satisfy your curiosity - the steps leading up to the room over the land gate and the room itself which is now the education room.

Welcome to @covlanguages.bsky.social - great to have this Blue Sky feed for Coventry City of Languages, a charity supporting language learning and heritage languages in CV postcodes. Here’s the founding team picking up a parliament award in 2022 for the initiative.
