The problem with bldg grand fireplaces is three fold:
1. proportions of a well functioning fireplace (of typical scale) do not correlate.
2. ‘turbulence creating’ corners within the fire box & smoke chamber shd be eliminated.
3. the hosting bldg must be of a calibre to deserve the effort.

For some decades, I’ve been building a wide range of structural masonry projects, but fireplaces are a speciality I favor. Particularly ‘the grand fireplace.’ Here’s me back 2001, I think it was.
