Is there a way to make back stitches from a domestic machine less visible? #quiltsky

Professional code breakers could not decipher my quilt math scratch paper. I wrote it and I can't even understand it.

Hey. Let's stop blaming women for everything ok?

Going to my first quilt guild meeting tomorrow. Excited. Nervous. Worried I'm too "beginner" to join.

I am so in love with a methodical, repetitive, easy quilt block. There will be a time and place for curved piecing and Y seams. But in this chapter of life, when I squirrel away sewing time in 10 and 15 min chunks, bless the basic patterns. I'm looking at you Star Pop II. You the real MVP.

Followed a pattern's cutting instructions only to realize I did not, in fact, follow the cutting instructions. #quiltsky

I highly recommend improv pieced sashing and borders. #quiltsky

Are you sick of seeing the elephants? I'm kinda sick of making them. I always lose steam at this point in a quilt project though. Everything feels chaotic and I just want to move on. Mom made the elephants facing left. I made the ones facing right.

Cutting up my son's @winterwaterfactory.bsky.social too-small sweatshirts. The prints and fabric quality are too good to let go. I'm making a quilt out of these squares so we can enjoy them for years to come!

I created some mockups of different size sashing for the 11in x 13in elephant quilt blocks. I'm leaning towards improv pieced sashing with scraps so the sashing will look busier than the blocks. Thoughts? #quiltsky

In my raw-edge applique project I'm struggling to apply the fusible web to the pieces Mom precut. Is there a trick other than cutting the web ever so slightly shy of the stencil and praying I don't glue my ironing board? #quiltsky

Progress! My biggest challenge right now is the background is bigger than my cutting mat. #quiltsky

Follow up question on pre-washing quilting cotton: can precuts be washed? I thought they would fray too much? #quiltsky

Quilt help, please! I inherited a bunch of quilting cotton from my mom. She was a pre-wash gal. I am not. What might happen if I mix our collections into a project? #quiltsky

One of Mom's unfinished projects includes 14 precut elephants (her fav animal). I'm teaching myself applique via YouTube. Currently testing Flexifuse light weight fusible web on some scraps. Tips are appreciated! #quiltsky

Sorting through what seems like miles of assorted brown/beige quilting cotton strips and found a slip of paper with Mom's handwriting. Dainty. Proper. Also: fushia, green plaid, and yellow? Girl, no. #quiltsky

I inherited 50 bins of vintage quilting fabric from my crafter Mom who passed away last month. Is there any #quiltsky interest in seeing what I make? Project videos or pics?

My #jobsearch numbers:
2 months.
43 applications.
16.3% interview rate.
100% of my interviews came from referrals, even though referrals only account for 30% of my applications 🤯

Reading goals for April are soft and easy. I was recently laid off and looking for a new job is more mentally taxing than expected.
1. Read an uplifting book.
2. Read a book by an author who exists in a marginalized space.

March Reads coming in hot. I can't seem to break out of the 2-books-per-month rhythm. #booksky

My reading goals for March:
1) finish the 600pg beast "Hello Beautiful" by Ann Napolitano.
2) read "James: A Novel" by Percival Everett for book club.
3) read something non-fiction. #booksky
