It was the GOP whose "drill, baby, drill" energy policy starting in 2008 that Obama defeated twice.

There's no evidence voters supported Obama bc of pro-fossil fuel positions. There's a better case the opposite is true.

Keep in mind ...

One of the names in the Epstein emails was AG Sulzberger (mentioned with others in what looked like an invite list).

No info on the connection, but as more photos come out things could get (even more) interesting.

I would love to see the next Democratic nominee move the party away from being like Republicans. Certainly you can be more civil than them, but this level of b.s. is no less insane.

"Liberals should support America’s oil and gas industry."

"It's the third discharge petition under his gavel."

It's actually the 6th. There were 2 last year, 4 in '25, inc 3 in past 30 days.

Since 1993, only 2 other discharge petitions were successful in getting enough signatures. (All under GOP speakers.)

Successful discharge petitions used to be rare.

Successful discharge petitions since 1993:

2002: 1
2015: 1
2024: 2
2025: 4

All were under GOP speakers; the 6 in '24-'25 were under Johnson.

Mike Johnson has lost control of the House.

Per your Bulwark Takes convo w Sam Stein re Trump claim (~6:10) on jobs going to native-born workers, not immigrants, you may want to check the @deanbaker13.bsky.social piece refuting that claim thoroughly. Interesting background on prior projections affecting jobs surveys.

Trumpian Nonsense on Employing Native-Born Workers
Trump’s claim of soaring native-born employment is based on misunderstandings of CPS survey data, not real labor-market gains.

It didn't give the championship to the Houston Asterisks for 2017.

Which makes it still smarter than MLB.

$40,000 for 2 midlevel tix for a quarterfinal match in LA.

Earlier rounds in the stratosphere too. About $2,000 per seat upper level.

It's a bargain for the Saudi royal family.

Her filter seems to work no better than Trump. He can get away with it, but prob nobody else.

This has been the most chaotic White House in history. Isn't that a better reason to fire the Chief of Staff?

Time and time again, the message you get from Yggy and Ezzy et al. in the self-declared middle is this: Democrats are doing politics the WRONG way!

How the hell that wins votes for the D party from indies or anyone else I fail to understand.

Keep praising the Saturday editors, you might get them fired.

Prediction markets are legalized gambling.
The proliferation of legalized gambling is corrupting everything.
Especially in politics and sports.

Let it get bogged down in the courts for a few years while it stays a hole in the ground.

The new prez in '29 can begin to rebuild.

Jan '29 will be when everything comes to a head.

One thing we know for sure: Trump (if he's still breathing) will never leave office peacefully.

Each election is critical. But what we do when he refuses the outcome will determine our fate.

A future D administration needs to do something about ownership rules for media.

Antitrust action to break up media conglomerates / tech monopolies?

We once had strict limits on TV/radio station owners bc broadcasting used public airwaves. Likewise, can we establish the internet as a public good?

"Minnesota ... is a long way from Somalia."
That's why we can't have Ilhan Omar in this country.

Says the man from South Africa living in Texas.

Or maybe there's something else he wanted to say.

Can't wait for the WaPo AI podcast about WaPo AI podcasts.

Host: So what do you think is the stupidest idea in the world?

Guest: This is it, baby. This is as stupid as it gets. We just set a new world record.

Total Incarceration / Detention

US: ~2,000,000 (jails/prisons)
US: 65,735 (ICE detention)

UK: 98,000
France: 85,000
Germany: 59,000

Which one again is "land of the free, home of the brave"?

If SC says it's too late for Texas to switch back to its previous maps, what will the Court tell states like IN and VA, which are currently working to introduce new maps?

Will new maps now be voided? Or by the time the cases get to SC, will it be too late again?
