It is VIOLENCE. It is gleefully destructive. It is backpacks with inhalers, it is documents you need to apply for jobs, and most importantly it is the homes your most marginalized neighbors have pulled together from almost nothing. It is often the entirety of their possessions.
Press needs to stop repeating govt euphemism of “clearing homeless camps.” I’ve witnessed it in other cities: massive destruction of personal property. Not just bedrolls & tents; family photos, Bibles, meds. Times I’ve seen it people weren’t even given option to move their things.

The idea of art as only things that are purely artistic in intent has caused the world too much damage. People fail to see the art they make themselves. Creative solutions to everyday problems. The spices added to a bland dinner. The way you make voices when reading to a child. It's all art.
