-instead of the usual wacky text undertale normally has. Another interesting example of this is the memoryhead fight and how it uses " drew near!" to emulate a basic or placeholder encounter text. which gives an uncanny unused enemy vibe. The CHECK text also emulates this placeholder vibe.

I absolutely adore the dichotomy of Toriel and Asriel sharing this encounter text. "Blocks the way" is one of the simplest encounter phrases in the game and it being used highlights how undertale uses game and rpg tropes to further it's narrative
