Is there any reason to have realistic physically based collision resolution be the default in 3D game engines? How many games need physically accurate handling of a capsule and cylinder bouncing off each other?

Decided to do mostly back end rendering stuff today, so here's a small clip showing off a unit's abilities.
On first contact the ghost becomes "ghosted" for a short time, where they're intangible and immune to damage except for interacting with another "ghosted" unit.
