It's such a tacky and not-funny joke. I'm honestly a bit surprised it's still joked about.

wait I thought you meant bubba?

There's a good explanation to my off-putting aggressive approach.
Aquarians are an air sign and tend to process the world through intellect and logic rather than emotion. This can lead to a perception of being cold or unfeeling.

I bought a moto g specifically because it was free. It's got this 3.5mm hole in it, into which nothing has ever been stuck.
November 18, 2025 at 10:26 PM
If you'll believe *this* BS, then what other BS can you be convinced of? And maybe not "you" specifically but we should all strive towards a society that believes in science.
November 18, 2025 at 10:21 PM
Yeah exactly how I feel about this too. We should normalize making a yucky face at people who propagate BS. That includes religion, astrology, and anything else provably false. Come on, live in reality, it's maybe not as "fun" but at least it's real.
November 18, 2025 at 10:20 PM
Hah thank you! I put astrology in the same bucket as religions. All fun and games, harmless in theory, but once you start saying "It's OK to believe in false things" where do you draw the line?
November 18, 2025 at 10:06 PM
oh yuck. "Nice to meet you, let me tell you about some absolute BS I subscribe to"
November 18, 2025 at 9:30 PM
wow that is really something...
November 18, 2025 at 6:51 PM
wait what? those euro windows are cheaper than our shitty PVC crap? that can't be true?
November 17, 2025 at 11:39 PM
The number of times that I have said "oh shit, that was closer than I thought!" is unsettling to me. I have stopped utilizing them unless it's really obvious, but it's just an invitation to awful times.
November 17, 2025 at 11:16 PM
While we're at it, probably worse IMO is the blinky left-turn arrow. Absolutely ridiculous that @pbotinfo.bsky.social is still maintaining these things.
November 17, 2025 at 11:13 PM
Yeah, agreed, it is better, but I am already a believer.
November 17, 2025 at 10:30 PM
Every step they take on "improving" our roads is always skewed towards car priority. @pbotinfo.bsky.social puts in bumper-ticklers where they should put in a big honking bollard.
November 17, 2025 at 10:10 PM
I don't know where you live, but in my SE PDX neighborhood the streets are ridiculously wide. We'll be OK with a bit more cars on them.
November 17, 2025 at 10:08 PM
so a little egg on my face but I stand by my dislike for this. It sounds like a tax refund, no big deal, and my objection is still that handing someone $1600 on Jan 1 or buried in their refund really seems like the worst way to do this.
November 17, 2025 at 9:05 PM
Ugh ok I missed that or mis-remembered. Anyway, again, this is exactly not what I think UBI is.
November 17, 2025 at 9:02 PM
Sorry I meant disbursement "somehow" - wasn't considering the funding source.
November 17, 2025 at 9:00 PM
(As far as I could see, it was just a vague plan that everyone would get $1600 *somehow* ... my questions were unanswerable with a bit of googling, so I deemed it "incomplete". And the measure failed.)
November 17, 2025 at 8:47 PM
Frankly I don't think handing people $1600 on Jan 1 really tells the story or changes the situation.. *of course* we don't tell people how to spend their money, but that is simply the worst possible way to disburse it. And it was the slogan.
November 17, 2025 at 8:46 PM
I thought it was not enough money, and the vagueness of it left it open to interpretation. Getting $minimal-cost-of-living every month is very different from their campaign of "Don't you want $1600?"
November 17, 2025 at 8:44 PM
Every stop should be no turn on red. I can wait 20 seconds and make the world safer for everyone, thank you very much.
November 17, 2025 at 8:42 PM
Do you know what the deal was with the Oregon "UBI-lite" proposal that we had? Such good intentions, it just made no sense to me that it would go out so incomplete.
November 17, 2025 at 8:34 PM
I think Mall 205 is actually kind of cool structurally? I remember going there and seeing these little old people congregating in there, as the businesses closed down around them. Sure, tear it down in replace it, but prior to that it seems like a wasted opportunity.
November 17, 2025 at 8:32 PM
Yikes. I had not heard about this until this moment.
