Public transit is a social contract. It’s a subsidization of cost and time because two locations or more benefit from it. You give up autonomy of door to door travel to reach places faster and in a more efficient way. The urban sprawl and a public transportation are both things that can co-exist.

I am curious about what values dictate other people’s lives. I’m continuously at odds with my what I’d like to be and what I am. I want to earn a lot to support my family, and help them not stress about finances anymore. I also want to not do soulless work that has no meaningful impact on society.

How bad would it to have AI take your job? Under the following conditions
1. It’s used for the people
2. There are plans to onboard people onto other industries where AI can’t replace us
3. Some form of a social net for those of us who cannot transition to a new career.

ministry for the future was a great read. A lot of the ideas in there may be super controversial now, but might be just be what we may need in the future. I really like the idea of radically changing incentives to NOT use carbon. Sequestration is the other side of the coin, but won’t be enough.
