I felt physically ill all through listening to this interview. It was surreal alongside the horrible cruelty and suffering that's still happening. I am so thankful for the adults crossing the room - the flotilla, and @standing-together.bsky.social.

I've been trying to think of an example of a creative non-fiction thrutopia, and I think Robin Wall Kimmerer's Braiding Sweetgrass is a candidate - through braided essays, she describes a culture which, if shared more widely, could alter the climate trajectory. @rupertread.bsky.social

This job of working out how to respond to planetary capacity is a welding job, isn't it? The job is to heal up the splits in our thinking.

This translates to: 'Sweden's richest 0.1% emit 198 tons of carbon dioxide per person per year. Sweden's poorest 10% emit 3 tons. "It takes an average Swede an incredible 30 years to emit as much as one of the ultra-rich does in a year, it's not fair"'

Been holding out for this episode. Even though I listen to @richardjmurphy.bsky.social regularly, I still needed to slow it down and keep rewinding. So good to hear this stuff in the conversation. I also recommend Murphy's bite-sized daily podcast Funding the Future.

This one's a cracker. Richard Murphy for chancellor.
Right-wing commentators claim inequality in Britain is falling. It isn’t. In this video, I expose the real story behind Britain’s growing inequality and why official data is misleading, as well as suggesting what we need to do to tackle this issue. youtu.be/WhFPzDWOQzk?...
Is Britain's inequality really decreasing?

Having read @georgemonbiot.bsky.social's Regenesis and The Invisible Doctrine, I went back and listened to 'Feral'. OMG. Was expecting reasoned argument, and of course I got that, but really Feral is the heart to the Regenesis head. Didn't want it to end. So beautifully read by George too ... 1/3

Is this article correct that there are calls to block a speaker from @standing-together.bsky.social at the @greenparty.org.uk conf? ST are an incredible movement, representative of both peoples, unwaveringly focused on peace. Help @zackpolanski.bsky.social!

We need to be working with those inside and outside of Israel who want peace.

This is big! Someone tell the politicians and the fossil fuel companies! Remember how we used to always hear, 'There's no magic money tree?' Now we must say: there's no magic geological carbon store.
A 0.7°C cooling at best from all geological carbon storage.
So could 2.2°C be seen as the maximum allowed overshoot temperature ? 🤓
NEW STUDY: How much CO2 can we safely store in geological formations?

In a new @nature.com study, we cross-check established academic and industry estimates with various risk factors.

We find a prudent geological CO2 storage limit that is about 10x smaller. /1

I wish I'd never read @richardjmurphy.bsky.social's Taxing Wealth Report. Every time wealth tax comes up, I think: what about all the other options Murphy suggested for taxing wealth? And they're hardly ever discussed. It's most infuriating.

This is interesting, and has implications for voting in @greenparty.org.uk leadership elections. I really thought I'd settled on E&A because I want to fight the system not the people in it - but E&A couldn't rule out capitalism being compatible with sustainability, and that's serious. Round I go...
liberals are committed to human rights...

but their commitment to capitalism is a bigger priority.

this is why, time and time again, liberalism gives power to the far right.

only a broad-based socialist movement can get us off this flywheel.
