My biggest takeaway is understanding how culture affects communication. This course taught me to look deeper into people’s backgrounds and experiences and identities. #UTcomtheory

My favorite theory is the Social Learning Theory because it emphasizes how we learn from observing others, which really resonates with how much behavior is shaped by environment and social influences. #UTcommtheory

Yes, Agenda-Setting Theory is still relevant today. Algorithms now act as gatekeepers by deciding what shows up on our feeds. In my own social media, I notice I see the same topics over and over. This makes me think those topics are more important. #UTcomtheory

The media recently pushed the issue of local news decline into public attention. Many news outlets showed how misinformation grows when local journalism fades. This made people see it as an important national problem.

A media personality I have a parasocial relationship with is DeVonta Smith. Watching his games and interviews motivates me to work harder in football and school. He reminds me to stay humble and focused. #UTcommtheory

Disney

Disney shapes culture by teaching values like courage, friendship, and believing in yourself through its movies. Many kids grow up with Disney characters, which influence how they see family, love, and dreams. #UTcommtheory

For my meme I used a picture of a person posting something online and then realizing their teacher parents and friends all saw it. It shows how one post can reach everyone at once. This connects to Context Collapse. #UTcommtheory

Since my last name starts with A–M one negative effect of AI is that it can make me less focused. I might just copy answers instead of really learning. It can also make school feel less personal because I talk to a computer more than a teacher. #UTcommtheory

One of the Co Cultural Theory orientations I have seen is assimilation by avoiding confrontation. I experienced this during a group project where one student felt overlooked because they were the only international student. This show how people blend into groups to avoid standing out. #UTcommtheory

The decision-making approach I respond to best is participation. I like when everyone’s voice is heard and we can make choices together. It makes me feel respected and part of the team. #UTcommtheory

I think Twitter/X could use a culture shift. The platform has become too negative and confusing since ownership changed. I would recommend bringing back stronger community rules and open communication to rebuild trust and positivity. #UTcommtheory

I made a post showing a homeless pet with the caption, “All they want is love.” This shows pathos because it appeals to people’s emotions and makes them feel sympathy. #UTcommtheory

I made a meme showing me saying “I’m going to eat healthy” while holding a bag of chips. It shows cognitive dissonance because I’m acting opposite to what I believe. #UTcommtheory

I agree with this theory. The closer I am to someone the more we talk on different apps. I text FaceTime and message my best friend every day.

This theory is about how people share private information. On social media I see people post things that seem too personal. Sometimes I learn stuff I didn’t want to know. It shows how hard it can be to keep privacy online. #Utcommtheory

Jim and Pam from The Office show openness vs. closedness tension. Jim hid his feelings early, then later on he opened up. This matches the idea that relationships balance opposite needs. #UTcommtheory

One axiom says more talking lower uncertainty. When I met my teammates in college I felt unsure at first but after more talks I got comfortable and started talking more. #UTcommtheory

Like one time I was hanging out with my teammate and we we just starting to get to know each other after that we started telling each other More about our problems and family stuff. Then I couldn’t say nothing else because I barely knew him. #UTcommtheroy

I grew up in a consensual family. My parents encouraged me to share my feelings all the time but at the same time they still expected me to respect them at the same time Like when I wanted to join football they just listened to my reasons and let me explain why it mattered to me.

I violated an expectation by not texting my close friend back right away and they reacted by checking in to see if I was okay, which showed me they care about our relationship. #UTcommtheory

One time my “I” and my “me” were at odds was during football practice. My “I” wanted to relax and joke around with my teammates because I was tired from the day but my “me” knew that the coaches expected me to stay focused and give my best effort everyday! #UTcommtheory

the most important criterion is explanation of the data. A good objective theory should explain an event or human behavior in a real way.

I am more drawn to the objective approach. I like facts and clear answers like objective theories can be tested and I like when results are measurable.
