Summers are always creatively draining. This year I worked night shifts in unbearable humidity, often just waiting for the night to pass in silence. Ended up with 2 novel drafts and 3 new short stories. We'll see who ends up grabbing them ✍🏻 #booksky #writerssky

Thinking about themes, I have to remind myself that sometimes the ordinary is more profound than any grand philosophy.
Writers create meaning where there is none📚

Now that other things are no longer in the way, I could finally sum up my wordcount📖 for January. 45.7k words! I'll allow myself be happy with that before reaching for new heights💪

Decided to take up digital art again after a long break. Looking forward to drawing the places and people from my stories ✍🏻✨

Yeah sometimes I google sketchy stuff for book research, but it’s embarrassing how many of my searches are just spelling and synonym questions.

#writingsky Starting the new year by challenging myself to write—and read—more short fiction. “To Drive the Cold Winter Away” by @ecatherine.com was the best possible piece to start this challenge, thank you 🙏🏻

With everything going on, this quote from Stephen King sums up my mood lately:

"I'd think 'This isn't the way our lives are supposed to be going.' Then I'd think 'Half the world has the same idea.'"

Somehow social media convinced us that 20 likes isn't enough. But imagine 20 people irl telling you how much your #writing meant to them 📖

Where I live, we have long summer days and winter nights. So when the sun sets at 3PM, I remind myself that creativity comes in cycles. The tide can't be high all the time 🌙

The only answer I have is, why would anyone bother reading a book that no one bothered to write?

I love writing, really enjoy creating waves of whimsy in the words on the page. I do worry that this won't be needed in the future, that AI will take over. What do you think? #writing #AI #futurejourno #books

I used to oppose any #writing craft books, but a whole new world has opened to me in the past year. Current favorites include "Techniques of a Selling Writer" by Dwight V. Swain and "Anatomy of Story" by John Trudy

Distancing words like "She watched" or "He listened." A bad habit of mine ✍🏻

#Writers, do you have any words you know you overuse and have to root out like weeds clogging up your word count garden?

I trained myself to avoid the word "suddenly" a long time ago, and now, that conditioning is so ingrained, I have to actually talk myself into claiming that something is sudden.

#writingcommunity Letting a 1st draft rest is really like placing it inside a cocoon, where it can rest and grow and develop

And though it hurts to peel away that cocoon in the 2nd draft and let go of what it used to be, the story will always come out more beautiful🦋

Current sci-fi hyperfixation: Arcologies (coined by Paolo Soleri in 1969). Blend of architecture + ecology that allows for dense populations with low ecological impact, and the result is these sexy behemoths

Used to rely on Twitter, but the world decided to make Gandalf's "So do all who live to see such times" quote more relevant than ever. Looking for writing and reading mutuals, so feel free to interact <3
