My lipedema specialist has been after me forever to get on Facebook. I haven't been on their in almost a decade.

What are you favorite groups on FB for lipedema?

Hahaha! She heard lipid maybe.

Sometimes I will pause and say, "You know, lipid edema - like fat + swelling?"

I'm not Buddhist. I'm a Quaker. But, I digress ...

Listen up, mofos:
You can't diet or exercise your way out of lipedema.
You can't supplement your way out of any brand of EDS.

And that's why I'm reading "Radical Acceptance," by Tara Brach.

So, I made a donation in her name to the Lipedema Foundation and had them send her a bunch of brochures on lipedema and then I fired her.

But that didn't make anything any better.

What did your doctor say?

After I went to a lipedema specialist -- four hours away, naturally -- I returned to my PC and was like, you've been fat shaming me and telling me to eat the wrong diet and fear mongering for 15 years, what say you? She was dismissive.

Same, same. I'd actually fallen and the injury on my calf -- a huge bruise and a raised area -- took years to heal. It's because of my fat legs that I didn't break one when I fell, and it's because of that fall that I figured it out.

I've had strangers yell "Here comes the bus!" while I'm walking down the street, minding my own business. When people get angry at me, the first insult out of their mouths usually starts with "fat."
