We forgot that Jesus was a child of occupied Palestine,
so now we fail to see him in a child of occupied Palestine.

As I attempt to explain the American healthcare system to bewildered Europeans, I feel like I’m experiencing the inverse of this article by @offthemonster.bsky.social from the early days of Trump’s first term; I finally don’t have to explain to people why they should care about other people.
I Don't Know How To Explain To You That You Should Care About Other People
Our disagreement is not merely political, but a fundamental divide on what it means to live in a society.

A point I made a Facebook/Instagram post a few days ago has been showing up all over progressive media, which I thought was weird timing. So I went back to look at my post and saw it had been shared over 600 times. 😳

So I guess I’m an influencer now. Makes sense, since I no longer have a real job.

Even though it is unlikely to pass, this is a serious escalation. This is what a moral panic looks like. www.chron.com/culture/arti...
Proposed law could charge transgender Texans with fraud
Under HB 3817, Texans could be charged with "gender identity fraud" for identifying as a sex different from the one they were assigned at birth.

It’s weird how the people who are now insisting that we say Gulf of America are the same people who refuse to call trans folks by their names.

I’m going to start working on a new book in the For Dummies series. It’s tentatively titled “Kendrick for Caucasians”

Trump supporting farmers are realizing he has taken away the money provided to them by the Inflation Reduction Act.

Putin has given power over multiple government agencies to one of his oligarchs.

I’m sorry, I’m being told I misunderstood. A correction: *Trump has given power over multiple government agencies to one of his oligarchs.

If this was any other country, we’d call this what it is: a coup.

I like Jon a lot, but he’s wrong *a lot* here. A collective shrug because Trump *can* get away with what he’s doing now is a great way to slip further into authoritarianism.

That said, he was right about this: Dems must convince people they have a real plan with what they would do instead. 💯💯💯

I’m against deadnaming, but I’ll be making an exception for the Gulf of Mexico.

Today feels like I’m in line waiting to go into a haunted house. I know I’ll make it through (I know many are not so sure, for good reason), but I also know there’s going to be a lot of scary sh*t between now and then.

I thought Sunday scaries were only when you have to go to work the next day.

This is a scaldingly cold take, but since I just got around to it:

Even after seeing the reviews, I am astonished how bad Joker 2 is, like as a film. I realize not everyone was a fan of the direction Joker took its story, but it still had some sort of substance and style. What the hell happened?

Just an observation: I saw more sympathy online for the Oceangate passengers than there has been for the United CEO.

And that is *really* saying something.

I’ve been thinking about which other businesses operate in such a way that, if their CEO were killed, it would immediately and reasonably be assumed to be a consequence of the company’s normal operations.

All I’m coming up with are criminal operations.

I get concerns about precedent, but we’re so far past that point that it’s just pearl clutching now. There is nothing Biden/Democrats could do in terms of precedent that could possibly have any effect on what the Trump administration does.

So why not? I think presidents should pardon *more* people.

At this point, I am getting concerned that Trump will soon pick me for a cabinet position, as I am also deeply unqualified to run a government agency.
