I know it’s only February, but this is already a strong contender for best novel of 2025, imo. It has everything I want in a Künstlerroman. ❤️❤️❤️

Just finished this novel and loved the journey it took me on. For better and (at times) worse, I was reminded of Ben Lerner's Leaving the Atocha Station. Akbar's prose casts a spell, and I will read anything he writes. If you also read this, let's discuss!
