A tsunami watch has been issued for the West Coast to the U.S.-Mexico border. The tsunami is expected to reach the North Coast of California around midnight.

This week, there were hundreds if not thousands of brown pelicans, cormorants and osprey feeding on bait fish in the Klamath River estuary and plume. This is another sign the river is healing in response to dam removal.

Happy Friday! Here are some recent pictures of the undammed segment of the Klamath River. To help the river rebound, the Yurok Tribe, under contract with RES, planted several tons of native plant seeds and tens of thousands of native trees along the newly reborn river reach.

Today, the Yurok Tribe is celebrating the return of 47,000 acres of land in the ecologically and culturally invaluable Blue Creek watershed. The Tribe worked with Western Rivers Conservancy for 20 years to make this monumental moment a reality. apnews.com/article/yuro...

Last Friday, the Northern California Condor Restoration Program replaced a few roosts on top of the condor release & management facility. For safety reasons, the work was done during daylight hours. This uncommon disturbance allowed a chance for a photographer to take new pics of the flock.

The NorCal Veterans Collaborative 2025 will take place on May 29 from 10am-3pm at the Eureka Veterans Memorial Hall. This regional gathering will bring together Veteran service providers, Native American health providers, tribal councils, and Veteran advocates.

The Klamath leg of the annual Klamath Salmon Run began this morning with runners dipping carved salmon into the Pacific Ocean. Over the next few days, runners will make their way to the Klamath’s headwaters and up the Trinity River. The run will finish up on Sunday.

Last spring, film crews from PBS and BBC spent several days with Yurok Fisheries, Wildlife and others to document dam deconstruction, revegetation and condor restoration.
