based on personal experience, once physical symptoms start appearing is when you finally realize maybe you’re feeling something, and then start asking questions like “wait, am i [happy/sad/scared/any other types of emotion] right now”

well that’s kind of a lie. characters might narrate “oh shit, i’m panicking,” but that’s also like when you’re talking out loud to yourself when you’re agitated and stuff, so i say it doesn’t count
