What are some of the cool data tools I should explore next? 🤔

Will probably turn one or two suggestions into my upcoming newsletter articles...

My “The Data Toolbox” newsletter has around 700 subscribers.

I’m so happy that my content has been valued by these people!

The only thing I want to push for is to publish more articles, more frequently.

But that’s easier said than done.

Work matters but life always comes first...

A list of open source data tools I love working with:

- DuckDB
- Polars
- SQLMesh
- dlthub

What would you add? 🤔

I hoped sqlmesh or dbt would be like airflow for a data transformation framework.

I still haven't yet lost that hope entirely, but I'm starting to think it might be something else that'll be that fully community-supported open source data transformation tool.

Now that dbt and sqlmesh were acquired by Fivetran, do we say data transformation tooling competition is over?

I think next ones will be in the BI space.

And what I'm most excited about is newer, open-source focused data companies that are just emerging in the market!

Trying to get some ideas - what do you guys do for exercise when you're on a trip for several weeks? 🤔

Your environment is totally different, and so I'm curious about what you'd do, especially you're there with kids...

Networking isn't something you do only when you're laid off from your job.

It's something you continually do, regardless of your job status.

Whatever it is that you do, it adds up, and the time comes it'll pay off.

And you get to help others along the way.

Alright this is a similar post I did yesterday on BI tools.

What are some of the open source BI tools you used in production that worked well? 🤔

On the top of my head, here a few tools:
- Metabase
- Superset
- Evidence
- Lightdash

Any thoughts?
