ice-ocean interaction in East Antarctica
I went to FRISP last month, my first international conference and so worth the long trip! I came back inspired to dive back into my research.
Big thanks to Anna Wåhlin for hosting me (including a fun field trip to beautiful Bornö) and to IMAS travel scheme and AAPP for the support from home!

🌊 After more than 50 days away, the shipload of science aka the Denman Marine Voyage on RSV Nuyina has left the sea ice and is heading for home.
(* there's always one in shorts! 😆)

🌊 Like weather stations for the sea, the Denman Marine Voyage #DMV has installed three moorings off the ice shelf in East #Antarctica, to monitor ocean heat for the next few years before we come back to get them.

Check out what our dream team has done so far during the Denman voyage 🌊!!
🪩 Our #DMV team has done the CTD dance more than 60 times so far in the Denman Marine Voyage.

What does the CTD tell us? (hint: it stands for🧂Conductivity 🌡️Temperature 📏Depth).

Day 33: 🥞🍮🧁🐳….

Day 26: Every day is a day to celebrate!

Mar 21st is the World Glacier, World Poetry and French Bread Day. We celebrated all of them — learning the word “poem” in different languages (including Australian 😉), reciting poetry, writing glacier versions (ACEAS story) and eating French bread 🥖

Day 15: Some ups and downs, but we have a good starting point 💪

Benoit, Kaihe and crew successfully deploy the EM-APEX float with the help from different groups! I got the best spot to watch and successfully captured their smiling faces 😊

Day 10: Heaps of 🐋 (humpback) came to visit us too :)

Day 10: We tested the mooring sensors using a very old-fashioned way—radio. If the sensor was awake, we’d hear it sing with a bi-bi-bi sound over the radio. It was really fun, but we had to set an alarm to catch them; otherwise, we’d have to wait another half hour for the next signal.
