Makes me so weary to want to pursue writing, especially the upsurge of poorly "written" AI-Generated books being produced en-masse being shoved into places such as Amazon Self Publishing making it a lot harder for up and coming people like me who want to pursue self publishing.
Hot publishing take: It's no longer Midlist vs. Bestsellers, which is basically a 99/1% split. It's Never Struggles, Sometimes Struggles, and Always Struggles. Struggles to get the next contract, struggles to get publisher support and marketing budget, struggles to get into bookstores.
