The darkness descends.

If this wasn't so deadly, it would almost be comical. How much worse can it get? Every day brings a new head-shaking horror.

Next week Calgary city council sets its annual budget. But the provincial requisition on 2026 property taxes doesn't come down til the Alberta budget in Feb—and it jumped by 17.5% last time. I get into it in my latest @sprawlcalgary.bsky.social dispatch. #yyccc #ableg

Theirs is not a conservative position.

It's the opposite.

A House panel is holding a hearing on a proposed ban on Congressional stock trading.

This ban is long overdue. Why should members of Congress be able to use privileged information to make money on the stock market, while they’re supposed to be working for you?

The UCP could have ended the teachers' strike using s1. Other govts have.

Not Bill 9. The UCP has no evidence to support a s1 claim that their removal of parental & child rights is proportional or justifiable in a free and democratic society. Only vengeance.

Don't think they'll use the notwithstanding clause to do it?

What do you call a group that demands total freedom, but panics the moment anyone demands theirs?

It’s a purity cult. If they override you, it’s stability. If you assert yourself, it’s chaos. They want to control who has a voice.

#ForeverCanadian upset that order, so they want to change the law.

What's at the root of the UCP's use of the notwithstanding clause?

Our @partyloyalty.bsky.social research suggests hyperpartisanship is playing a huge role.

The locker room mentality in the UCP caucus is encouraging MLAs to cede even more power to the premier's office.

That's bad for democracy.
