218 New Books by Black Authors Coming Out Soon. Marketing & PR support from publishers is less than it used to be, and most of these authors won't even get *that* level of support from their publisher. So if you see a book you like, support the author by preordering/purchasing.

Just saying again that this is how it starts. If they can “Trump up” charges on Garcia, they will do it to the groups of ppl they deem unworthy to here and then lie about it. Sounds very familiar…🤔
The way Trump officials are lying about Kilmar Abrego Garcia should give everyone pause about any "evidence" they see coming from the government at this point.

This is the Assistant Secretary for the Dept. of Homeland Security and everything she writes here is a lie.

Update…I figured out who Carter was. The cop. But his name is Bowen now so…let’s try to remember it this time, Yasmin! 🤣
Going through my dev edit letter for book 5 revisions and there’s a character my editor asks about that I can’t recall. 🤦🏾‍♀️ Who the hell is Carter, folks?? That’s what I get for changing names midway and then forgetting who’s become who (whom? 🤷🏾‍♀️). Send help. Sigh…

Every writers festival in the country skews heavily to literary—which is also a genre btw—tho crime often gets a panel or two and that only bc its big names draw crowds. But it’s still set apart & there’s often condescension as in Oh genre is so commercial.

At Kamloops in 2018 I overheard an
Many of Canada's best writers (Margaret Atwood, Yann Martel, Emily St. John Mandel, Kenneth Oppel, Charles de Lint, Silvia Moreno-Garcia) write genre (sci-fi, spec-fic, fantasy). But, often, in the Canadian literary landscape, this is met with aghast push-back.
It is incredibly frustrating.
"Why aren't you mostly querying to Canadian literary agents?"

Because there are only about thirty (30) lit agents in Canada and only a fraction of that rep genre fiction 🫠

All these high level ppl resigning bc they won’t yield access to Musk. WHY? Isn’t it better to stay? Refuse to leave. Ring alarms. Protect democracy and privacy. That’s more impactful, protesting from within where it’s happening. If you leave, your refusal means little & only frees a spot for them.

And don't forget to support emerging marginalized voices. Not all diverse books are banned - some are intentionally left off the shelves, making it like we never existed. We NEED you to buy and request our books to keep our narratives alive.
Make sure you buy banned books. Get a library card and borrow banned books. Read banned books.
