1) So my book comes out today. Maybe you've seen some viral headlines. Which is great, but the book is also much deeper and more nuanced than all that. I spent 3 years on it, interviewed nearly 300 people. If you care about these characters or this world in any way, I really think you'll like it.

This @jamesherbert.bsky.social story on the small guards succeeding in the modern NBA was fantastic. So much great stuff in here:

How the NBA's 6-footers can survive -- and thrive -- in increasingly tall league
Davion Mitchell, Jamal Shead and Collin Gillespie -- all 6-foot-1 and under -- are providing the blueprint for today's short kings

Is there a sporting event besides the NBA Cup where the announcers push the sponsor name this much? I’ve never seen company men like the entire Amazon group, feels like they all get "Emirates" in there every time.

And for the holiday season I'll get this going again:

Send me a proof of order for (email: lebronlakersbook at gmail) and I’ll send you this bookmark. It will be like you’re reading alongside LeBron! You’ll also get a bookplate made out to you or anyone (and lmk if there’s a special message)

Holiday season means I’m legally required to plug my book. That being the case, if you’re looking to gift a sports book to a loved one, how about one on the LeBron-era Lakers that was named one of @newyorker.com Best Books of 2025?

I think Yaron is still the guy writing about pooping in the NBA but The New Yorker says he wrote one of the best books of the year and damn it they are right. Go buy it!
So this was pretty cool: @newyorker.com put A HOLLYWOOD ENDING on its Best Books of 2025 list!

I LOVE reading @jamesherbert.bsky.social when he writes about a young player that excites him.

This, on VJ Edgecombe, is great:

Sixers rookie VJ Edgecombe has been 'better than we could have hoped'
The 20-year-old guard, picked No. 3 in the draft, is already doing it all in Philly

Understanding the format and rules to an all star game shouldn’t feel like trying to solve an SAT problem
So to sum up the All-Star Game selection process this season:

24 All-Stars
12 from each conference
Positions don't matter
16 US players
8 World players
2 US teams
1 World team
8 players per team
If there are not enough US or World players then Adam Silver will select more to fill out the teams.
Looks like NBA just revealed the All-Star Game format this season. Two teams of American players and one World team. Same selection process for the All-Stars but they will not be picked based on position. So positionless All-Stars selections.

Ja Morant has seven turnovers and is -25 in the first half here at MSG and yet, somehow, that doesn't capture how poorly he's playing and how uninterested he looks
