What if a crappy tv show for kids turns evil and comes to life? Loved this action packed book full of gore, blood and a freaky killer by @paperbacksandpugs.bsky.social

Easy to read science fiction. Aliens and Starship Troopers come to mind but with some native american mythology and young adult like worldbuilding. Surprised by this book by @jazzastudios.com

Bleak, extreme, weird. I have no idea where @ericlarocca.bsky.social is going with this trilogy about a gruesome small town and its elders but I'm in for the ride after reading book 1.

Not his best but still a very dark tale abouting haunting family secrets and mean little girls.

Finished the first book of the year and I wouldn't mind a whole series of books like this.

If there was one book to finish the year with it was going to be this. @sgj.bsky.social isn't easy to read but his stories of native american society and history, horror and in this case vampires are amongst the most compelling stories I've ever read.

A desolated Scottish town, four young adults and the curse of a witch... this is a very cinematic book with authentic characters, lots of blood and some unexpected events. Recommended. I will now read everything @paperbacksandpugs.bsky.social has published.

I hardly ever read fantasy but this tale of werewolf and vampire, elf and pirate, undead knight and necromancer sure was a rollercoaster filled with battle action, monsters, blood and laughter. @joeabercrombie.com summoned the very darkest spirits to create this world.

Cycled 60 km in the almost freezing cold but I did have to get my last tpb batch of the year. @imagecomics.com is crushing it with these books by @denizcamp.bsky.social @jamesthefourth.bsky.social @danielwarrenart.bsky.social

Being a teacher means two weeks off. Time to catch up on some books by @sgj.bsky.social @joe-hill.bsky.social @joeabercrombie.bsky.social and more.

Time to decorate the tree, turn on the lights, hang up the balls and if you are really looking for the best book to read at the moment then @brianmcwriter.bsky.social has got you covered with one of the best slasher books around.

Really enjoyed this fun, modern take on a body snatcher theme with drugs and spores as the big evil and I love books that features a straight edge main character. Coming from that scene myself it's an honor that @claymcleod.bsky.social incorporated a bit of the subculture in such a fun book.

Take all the horror that may happen behind the closed doors of a house add a group of adults with serious trauma and you have the ingredients of one of the best books of 2025. @chuckwendig.bsky.social did it again.

@thomasoldeheuvelt is de beste horrorschrijver van Nederland/Europa en bewijst dat zeker met zijn nieuwste boek #dontreadthelastpage

@sgj.bsky.social writing a haunted house novel is like Escher meets Poe. This house isn't haunted, it's harboring a menacing threat. If you enjoy terrifying time loops and hate nanny cams this is one for you.

Another good @tkingfisher.com book about a woman becoming herself, her dog, friendship in unexpected places and an angry spirit. Oh and murderous roadrunners. First I'm reading about those.
December 2, 2025 at 10:00 PM
Out of all his recent books (Road, Hallows, House) @cgolden.bsky.social really outdid himself with this one. It's action packed from start to finish, features a coven of badass witches and takes place on a stranded ship that has a forest growing. I loved it.

If you agree that I know what you did last summer could have been way more tense and dark and if you like crime noir and nail biting suspense. If you enjoy all that's lurking in the dark and aren't afraid of small town secrets then @ronaldmalfi.bsky.social wrote the book for you.

I have to admit I don't like driving and could care less about cars and trucks but @sgj.bsky.social surprised me with the action packed thrill ride that is Killer On The Road. He managed to create another awesome final girl and one scary protagonist.

I really liked this one by @shaunhamill.bsky.social There are no xenomorphs till far into the book but it does show another side within the Alien universe and has ties to the Prometheus and Convenant movies while also name dropping Ridley and yet being a story of its own.

This scifi series by @scalzi.com makes one question what it means to be human, the vicious circle of an arms race and how those in power always find others to exploit. Heavy topics in a very readable tone.

This book isn't about an ordinary haunted house, it's about a house that chews and grinds the meat of everyone who dares to enter especially children.
I loved this tale of cosmic horror @christinahenry.bsky.social wrote a terrifying great novel.
November 9, 2025 at 9:24 PM
Did we need a sequel to Mary Shelleys Frankenstein? Not really, but JS Barnes did write a near perfect gothic story continuing the tale of Victor and his creation with the right amount if dread and suspense @titanbooks.bsky.social

Now this is one energetic thrill ride through post Vietnam war heartland USA and back with big fangs sucking the blood and guts out of passerby while still having the heart and soul of a modern horror classic. I applaud @keithrosson.bsky.social for this old school tale.
