If you ask me 1943's 'The Seventh Victim' was Val Lewton's crowning achievement. A tremendously atmospheric, hauntingly beautiful, dark, Hays Code-defying, creepy psychological gothic horror/noir hybrid that's unlike any other movie from that era.
