アニメ最終話のヒカルのセリフ「おれはよしきが大好きや」ではその後「恋愛でも友情でもない」と続きます。
他者との深い結びつきが全て「恋愛or友情」のどちらかに振り分けられる必要は無いと思っているので、怪物のヒカルの気持ちに関しては一貫してそのように描いています。

一方で、様々なキャラクターの間で明確に恋愛である部分や友情である部分もしっかり決めて描いています。
