In February 1943, a column of Italian armored reconnaissance vehicles entered Gafsa. Leading were two Ansaldo AB41s, followed by two modified Horch cars. The unit belonged to the Cavallieggeri di Monferrato regiment, attached to the 131st Centauro Armored Division.
