West Virginia Republicans celebrate a $600 million investment in coal plants—yet remain silent on funding the Black Lung Disability Trust Fund or strengthening silica dust protections for miners and nearby communities.

Do West Virginia officials care more about coal or coal miners? • West Virginia Watch
Last week’s press conference to discuss the Trump coal proposal was short on actual plans, and too long on falsehoods and misconceptions.

"A groundbreaking new report commissioned by @selc.bsky.social shows that much of the projected data center demand is speculative — if not outright implausible.”

All the while, the Trump Administration is doubling down on AI investment and deregulation, bolstering data center construction.

West Virginians will be the ones paying for Northern Virginia’s rising energy needs thanks to AI.

Sarah Elbeshbishi writes: “as straining power grids try to meet the new level of demand, they’re offsetting associated costs onto all of their customers, including West Virginians.”
Data centers in other states are raising power costs in West Virginia
West Virginians are seeing higher power costs as AI and data centers increase electricity demand across the regional power grid.
