The hearing on the Region of Waterloo’s 100 Victoria St. N. application has been adjourned to February 2026. WRCLS is pleased that the Region propose mediation — as any human rights based approach involves engaging those living at the encampment in dialogue about what they need.

No one should be left without a safe place to go. Cambridge needs more shelters and supports for women now.

"The shelter, run by YWCA in Cambridge...is currently the only 24/7 emergency shelter for women in Waterloo region."

After the sale of 250 Frederick St., Kitchener, in Nov 2023, tenants faced eviction notices and fee increases. WRCLS represented residents opposing these bad-faith evictions.

On Oct 14, 2025, the LTB dismissed the landlord’s applications.

YWCA Cambridge runs the only Emergency Homeless Shelter for women and gender diverse people in Cambridge, ON.

The shelter has been full since it's opening on February 21, 2025.
