The Night Before It was always the girl that wore tight bright dresses, in hues of yellows and oranges, that reflected underneath dance floors and discos, that left streaming trails and whiffs of mesmerizing essence and sparkles behind in her wake. That girl, heated in dance and dripping in desire, smooth and cunning as a jaguar and as exotic as an uncharted jungle terrain, who was never without flowers and ornate tokens of anything precious and of value, was the same girl that was left alone to scrub the remnants of wine stains and smeared lipstick from the night before. -Excerpt from my poetry book, Galaxies in Our Backyard, available on Amazon & Amazon Kindle

Love in the Spaces "What is love within a space? Does it fill every curve, every nook and crevice? Can it smooth over warped rough edges? Is it a container for deep knowingness? Or is love just allowing and in that space, existence? Acceptance. Respect. Understanding. No refiltering. No excavation. Just allowing the moments passing. Can you ever really know all of someone? Should we? Could the deep well that exists within all of us, simply be, the bubbled illusion that love should burst through? Spaces were made to be filled. A Woman's Equation "Hope is an inner knowing. An acknowledgment that the light of life will bless you with a kiss at the end of a cataclysmic journey. Being a woman in this experienced oppression is like being the walking and breathing embodiment of that. Hope. It has never been materialized, created, or nurtured to greatness when life is easy. No, it can only thrive when born in the throes of darkness. And chaos. And destruction. That's where it shines the brightest. And that's where she stands and remains, unassailable. She is rising above the turmoil. Rooted firm in the trust that a mere flame flickering and dancing in small hands will carry you on from the ashes to your glory. Hope is the promise we make to ourselves that despite the encroaching despondency in knowing that, this world was not made for women, and that women were not made for this world, there is still faith. Despite the game of life seeking to devour the feminine essence whole and unrelentingly. Aside from the fact that this matrix is dark. Chaotic. Messy. Confusing. Imbalanced. It feels as if the sands of time have made it too late for us all. Out of time to trek down forgotten stories and cultures of the Ones Before Us. Nowhere to go when we've lost our connections to each other and ourselves. All unity and respect will continue to be lost and inexorable in our current state. But this world has women. For me, there will always be hope."

Untitled Poem (Part 1) Obsession. Passion. Typhoon of emotion. Now, I have found myself lost in harmonious gasps and moans and whispers. I was taking in every breath. Every force of life. Poetry in the way your eyes caressed my being. My essence. My spirit was being massaged open. At that moment, all of my thoughts were frozen. I love you so much, so deeply, repeating. All of this magnetic energy flows everywhere around me. That heat and yearning caressed me deeply. Awakening my Kundalini. Prior jadedness left me accustomed to depletion. The joy of this profound moment, a new experience, refueled me. Now, I am recharging. Ever since, you've sparked me. Untitled Poem (Part 2) I'm plugging in. No longer abandoning, those desires among the flames, dancing in celebration. No more broken wires. No more haze or confusion. I'm free with you. Free in this union. My spirit ached for a mirror, a deep understanding. Now, you've manifested into my life. Our souls are now in remembrance. Our auras are reconnecting. I'm allowing your love to sweep me. I've permitted for your heart to marry with mine. No longer checking ticking clocks, anxiety counting down the time. I could get used to this untangling. Deep sigh. Exhale in relief. Finally, I can unwind.

Today's Declaration (Part 1) So, I tried to quit yesterday, but it has passed. Too late. Like the time before innocent eyes. Before gifts were stolen and lies laced black tongues. Before the last leaf fell. Before that last semester. Before I opened new chapters and left doors open for new unfortunate souls to wander through. A time before everything shifted in my world but remained untouched, untainted, and unscathed in yours. Always lost staggering around in your orbit. Heart reading: OCCUPIED AT FULL CAPACITY, when it was ever only just me. Today's Declaration (Part 2) All this transpired after repressed rage bubbled open. After sadness escaped my veins and throat. After swallowing pride and pills. After lying in wait under clinical fluorescent lights. After sanity had officially left the chat. After shame undid the masquerade, is when I came alive, and savored the gift that is today.

Expenses Poem (Part 1) You said this world was ours, and I believed you. You said you would love me until the end of time and beyond that, and I believed you. You told me you would feed my soul and take on my burdens as if they were yours alone to bear and, I believed you. You told me you would never be the cause of my weeping or ache and, I believed you. As my tears fell into an ocean of despondency and my sense of belief dwindled and faltered, I still believed. I laid awake, trapped in my jumbled mind between reality and delusion, fact and fiction, about what was, what wasn't, and what I wanted it to be, I still believed you. As I shielded my frown with a smile and "I'm okay," I believed you. As I laid down my desires and ambitions to pacify your core wounded self at the expense of my inner child, I believed you. Expenses Poem (Part 2) As I put down and put off my healing and elevation to raise you on my shoulders, I believed you still. It was only when I stared in the mirror and only saw you, that I remembered. Love is a choice. Love is a series of continuous actions. Love is peace, clarity, and exploration of the depths of our souls and others. Love is a cost. Love has hidden meanings and messages and secret longings. Love is expensive. I gave everything, sacrificed all, and left nothing untouched for myself; it cost me dearly. I've emptied my vessel enough for you to fill it until overflowing or absorb into nothingness, and it cost me. What is the price of love? Endless? I'm not sure how but I now go forth towards the light, with the inner knowing that my love is expensive. It will cost, but in the end, I won't be footing the bill.
