On Instagram I like follow academic accounts and PhDs in all fields.
I’m surprised by how many are turning to AI or using AI tools. Like it’s a staggering amount. It’s like, what does this mean for graduate studies? Working smarter and not harder? Or diminishing returns on quality of work? Idk!

That's the big giveaway of the "pro-natalist" movement: they're all vehemently opposed to actual pro-child policies.
Because they don't really believe in more children, they believe in more children born to rich white parents and fewer born to anyone else.

I will never take anyone seriously who says we need to raise the birth rates or face human extinction but it’s especially sickening now that the oligarchs have chosen to hoard even more resources by cutting off aid and killing millions of kids in the process

With every job rejection I get, I can't stop thinking that this is the worst possible time to be applying for jobs. Anti-immigrant rhetoric is at an ultimate high. There's no longer federal pressure to hire diverse qualified candidates.

This is a legitimate nightmare
The student paper at the college at which I teach reports a "tsunami of takedown requests" from international students terrified of being targeted for innocuous, legitimate op-eds & opinions.. Many ask in person--leave no trace in writing. Reminds me of my father's account of studying in the USSR.
