The access, granted by Scott Bessent, Trump’s newly confirmed treasury secretary, comes after the ousting of the agency’s top career official.

An interesting development for #authors and #booksellers I haven't sold a book on blurbs. I read the books and refer customers on the story. #simonandschuster #booksky

Simon & Schuster imprint will no longer ask authors to obtain blurbs for their books
Publisher says expecting authors, agents and editors to secure blurbs can create ‘an incestuous and unmeritocratic literary ecosystem that often rewards connections over talent’

It was good while it lasted……

I’ve been fixated with America pretty much all my life, so it meant a lot to get a book in the Oval Office. When America Stopped Bring Great is all about the historical inescapability of Trump, oddly and fittingly. The Forever War is the prequel and sequel.

Lady walks into a bookshop. Browses for half an hour, picks up a book, reads the back, puts it back on the shelf. Repeats about 10 times. Says, 'nice to have a bookshop in town'. Then 'lovely bookshop'. Then 'I hope you make it'. Then 'thanks very much' .. walks out without buying book. Sigh.

Fixed book pricing provides a level playing field for #Booksellers. I sell Cherrywood in my store at $34.99. Kmart has it for $9. Publishers need to prioritise support for their #authors and independent #bookshops.
