Here’s a tongue-in-cheek song that examines the shadowy cabal that runs Wikipedia.

If the song ever becomes notable (it will not become notable) I’ll have to add it to [[Category:Songs that namecheck Larry Sanger]].
New song up on Bandcamp!

It’s called “The Power 62.”

They say “write what you know,” and, well…

“You’ve got an alert

Reliable source?
Of course!
There’s no citation needed…“

This is the fourth song I’ve put on Bandcamp, but it was the very first one I wrote and demoed after regaining my voice.

I wrote this in April after the US government sent Kilmar Abrego Garcia to a torture camp in El Salvador despite being ordered by the courts not to.

The more things change…
New song on Bandcamp: “Cecot Prison Blues.”

The cover art features Times New Roman, Marco Rubio’s favorite font. It seemed fitting since he gets a mention.

“An administrative error
is all it took to send you there…”

I’ve long found em dashes useful punctuation (in moderation) and it annoys me that they now have an AI stink about them.

“Within the A.I.’s training data, the em dash is more likely to appear in texts that have been marked as well-formed, high-quality prose.”
If you ask AI to describe its own writing style, it’ll say it’s too smooth, too neutral.

“In fact, this is not even remotely true. A.I. writing is marked by a whole complex of frankly bizarre rhetorical features that make it immediately distinctive… It’s not smooth or neutral at all—it’s weird.”

I guess most people aren’t interested in paper receipts these days, which is why fast food kiosks are the way they are.

I was leafing through an old yearbook (circa 1959) and saw this charming ad for electricity.

I was enjoying the buffet at my favorite local Indian restaurant and couldn’t help but notice a Seussian goat creature staring out at me from the fabric of the seat across from me. #pareidolia

Our little one calls the groundhog that lives under our deck Larry.

I hadn’t seen Larry in a while so I assumed he was hibernating.

He came out for a long spell yesterday; overnight we got a half foot of snow.

Maybe he saw the forecast and decided to stock up on grass while it was still visible.

As a kid with an Apple //c computer I was intrigued by the color fringes on nominally monochrome text (which Apple winkingly called “fringe benefits”.)

I just came across this excellent video explaining exactly why it does that: youtu.be/SqLJox6UQwg?...

Earlier this year, my little one asked me, out of the blue, if I would ever go out for milk and not come back.

I said absolutely not; we need to stick together.

But the question stuck with me. So I wrote a song about it.

I saw @jasonkpargin.bsky.social comment that Pluribus is what a zombie apocalypse would be like if all the zombies were Ned Flanders.

For me it brings to mind a frustrated Microsoft Office user, suddenly surrounded by millions of Clippys, all trying to be helpful.

I started watching Severance this weekend.

I saw John Turturro’s name in the opening credits, but couldn’t identify him on-screen, so I Wikipedia’ed him and holy cow how is it possible that he’s old enough to play Irving? He was like 30 years old in Box of Moonlight, which came out recently in 1996

My dad brought me some non-working flashlights to troubleshoot the other day.

I was amused by this laurel-encircled “Made in China” tag on the box, stylized to look like a “2025 Academy Award Winner” blurb.

I never could get the flashlights to work.

When I lost my ability to speak last year, I promised myself that if I ever got it back, I would kick to the curb my self-consciousness about my voice, and record some music.

I wrote and demoed this track in May; this new demo reflects some things about music production I’ve learned since then.
