Yesterday I was able to see my first Sunflower Sea Star (Pycnopodia helianthoides) since 2012. Unfortunately Sea Star Wasting Disease drove them to the brink of extinction. Sunflower Stars are my favorite tidepool denizens and seeing one again moved me to tears.
