Two years ago, Bani was paralyzed, alone, and facing grave injuries after a train collision. Now, Bani is full of opinions. From demanding her porridge and negotiating acupuncture sessions with bananas and expert-level photobombing, she’s grown into one of the most loved residents in our care.

There’s some excitement in the air… what could it be? 👀
Tomorrow is a very special day at Wildlife SOS.
(Hint: it’s all about baby Bani) 🐘

Winter + water? Absolutely not…unless you’re Zara.

One of those rare winter afternoons when the sun pops out and water warmed up — Zara was ready. She hopped right in for 30 minutes of pool time: lounging, splashing, dipping.

Meanwhile, Arya in the background = all of us, staying away from water.

As temperatures dip, we strengthen specialized care for our #rescued #elephants and sloth bears, many of whom are geriatric. Our veterinarians and caregivers closely monitor every animal in our care, adjusting treatment based on age, medical history and individual needs. youtu.be/71g69ahxtRc

Winter afternoons are Arya’s cue for slow walks, familiar scents, and the joy of discovering hidden treats, soaking in the pleasant warmth of the winter sun. Thank you to all of our supporters who make these afternoons possible for Arya.

Jimmy just celebrated his first rescueversary at Wildlife SOS with all his favourite treats. One year since a tiny cry from beneath a highway led to a second chance 🐻✨ Jimmy was just weeks old when he was found alone in a culvert under a busy highway. Now he's thriving under our care. #lifetimecare

Scared, electrocuted, and drenched after falling into a drain - that’s how we found this young monkey.

Now under our care, the young primate is being closely monitored and gently encouraged to regain strength. Once it is fit and medically cleared, it will be released back to its natural habitat.

When we first saw Lissy, she was scared and reclusive. Today, we are happy to see a spark of joy and a growing sense of safety.

Enrichments like this windchime feeder is helping her reconnect with their natural instincts-exploring, foraging, problem-solving, and engaging with their surroundings.
January 23, 2026 at 5:24 PM
We cannot undo what was done to her, but we can promise Lissy what comes next. From here on, her days will be filled with care, comfort, and the freedom she always deserved.

We need your support, please donate today and help us give her a new chance at life. give.wildlifesos.org/page/30266/d...

1,250 kilometres.
Bitter cold and fog.
Two days on the road to our rescue center

During transport, the team checked in every few hours, watching her closely, making sure her body stayed warm and steady, with frequent pauses in travel to give her the time and quiet she needed. #rescued

As authorities closed in, this sloth bear being used as a dancing bear was abandoned by her handler. Photos show her in transport crate ready to be transferred to Wildlife SOS for treatment and lifetime care. We've named her Lissy and she needs your support: give.wildlifesos.org/page/30266/d...

Elephant behavior is endlessly fascinating. 😍 Ginger gently loosens the soil and gathers it just right for a dust bath. Watch as the moment unfolds, with Ginger and Pari basking together under the warm tangerine glow of the winter sun, turning an ordinary afternoon into something quietly special.

Scared and trapped 40 feet below, a sambar deer was rescued and released from an open well.

Open wells continue to be silent traps for wildlife across rural landscapes of India. Our Open Wells pilot project in the state of Maharashtra is preventing tragedies:

Alerted by local farmers, authorities responded without delay to find this injured female hyena who was dehydrated and immobile with severe head and facial injuries, along with extensive swelling.

She is currently under intensive veterinary treatment at our Agra Bear Rescue Facility. 🙏❤️‍🩹

Simba’s left hook is looking sharp! 🥊
Enrichments, like this rotating bamboo post, are an essential part of all our centers. Beyond mere entertainment; they help replicate natural instincts while keeping them cognitively engaged.

This round, it’s 1-0 for the bamboo post. But Simba will be back! 💨

Wildlife SOS Haathi Sewa, India's first elephant mobile clinic, extends timely medical expertise and on-site support to elephants in distress.

Recently, the team assessed an injured male elephant at the Shimoga Forest Division. X-rays confirmed no major fracture, and a treatment plan was advised.

Before rescue, HARI WAS BOUND TIGHTLY FOR DAYS, unable to move his legs. We #rescued Hari just a few months ago, he can now explore, browse for food, and move freely.

These remarkable transformations are only possible because of compassionate people like you. Help elephants at give.wildifesos.org
