Aaaaaand there it is. This is why I hate de-extinction projects. We could be using these resources to address the very real and ongoing threats to our ecosystems. Instead, we’re giving those in power a reason to stop caring because “we can just bring them back”

Shame on @ctvyourmorning.bsky.social for crumbling to the pressure of the right-wing trolls. Seeing the dire effects of disinformation campaigns in the US, it's all the more important that we get (at least slightly) more honest reporting for this Canadian election
I’m devastated, but I’m also angry. I’m angry because this is an attack on press freedom.

If opportunities can be stripped from journalists simply because enough people repeat the same bad-faith narrative, how can anyone withstand the career impact of doing work that matters?

How much more will it take for Canada withdraws from the Safe Third Country agreement? It’s never been sound, and with the happenings of the last week it feels absolutely abhorrent www.policyalternatives.ca/news-researc...

THIS IS HUGE! Researchers at Stanford University have developed a dual-antibody treatment that remains effective against ALL SARS-CoV-2 variants by targeting a less-mutable part of the virus. This breakthrough could lead to longer-lasting therapies that OUTPACE viral evolution. 🧪🧵⬇️

This is why I post about the silence towards #trans people right now, and *especially* #TransInSTEM

They are immediately terminating grants researching transgender issues, and without a chance of reapplying:
"...no modification of the project could align the project with agency priorities."

Just received notice that our grant was terminated. 5R24AG066599-03

It's almost like the corporations never actually cared about queer people 🤔 I won't be doing any pearl-clutching about this, and I look forward to the leak of who jumped ship. Lest we forget: pride started as a riot. #TOpride

The archetects of the US government are full blown and open Nazis and still media dance around this as if it's not clear.

And in Canada, when our spy agency says that the antisemitic threat comes from the far right, CBC manages to blame Muslims and Palestinian activists:

I feel so sick. Enough with the lies, enough with the games. They know exactly what they're doing.

This is a neo-Nazi movement. Proudly so. The only reason they've kept it coded up until now was to take advantage of those who didn't want to believe it.

No more looking away. Face up to what it is.

The whole 🧵
When I talk about abolition one of the things we hear is “but what about” or “but what would you do if” as if the police or prisons ever stopped serial killing or sexual violence. As if police didn’t perpetuate sexual violence.

Wtf?! Are there actually more crashes happening since Trump took power, or are we just paying more attention since the DC collision? Cause it seems like too many crashes. IMHO.

Shopify didn’t take down Kanye West’s store, which only sold a swastika t-shirt, because of the obvious.

It was only taken down because it was “not a good faith attempt to make money.”

That’s according to leaked internal messages I obtained.

Spoiler: an executive also called Kanye a "jackass."
