Last night the team visited a farm in Hixon for a thermal survey. Encouraging to see birds making full use of the winter wheat cover. We ringed 6 Skylark and 1 Woodcock, a productive session on well-managed habitat.#pulsartelosxp50 #pulsarwildlife @tj-focus.bsky.social @pulsarvisionukroi.bsky.social

The new Staffordshire fields delivered in a big way tonight, 10 Jack Snipe ringed during a brief thermal visit, at least 10 more seen, plus 60+ Common Snipe. A standout site for some of Britain’s most elusive birds. #pulsartelosXP50 #Pulsarwildife @pulsarvisionukroi.bsky.social @tj-focus.bsky.social

Another fascinating find! A Reed Bunting we ringed on 24/09/25 at @SoultonHall Shropshire, was re-caught just 28 days later, 47 km away at Wolverhampton Race Course! 🌍
Without bird ringing, we’d never uncover these amazing movements through the country. #BirdRinging

Setting off fireworks in your garden is like taking the wrong person home after a few drinks. The morning-after regret is real.
Fireworks kill wildlife, terrify pets, and throw migrating birds into chaos.
Think before you let your load off. #thermalfireworks #Fireworks

🪶 It’s not just about ringing birds, it’s also about keeping habitats healthy and nest boxes safe.
Yesterday we were across Staffordshire at our Peregrine sites, refreshing nest-box gravel and cleaning roof spaces to stop them nesting in unsuitable spots. 💚

Almost 1,200 Redpoll ringed across Cannock Chase, Staffs! 🔄
One bird we ringed on 08/09/25 has already been re-caught 55 km away in Warwickshire @heartofengland (Redditch RG) on 24/10/25.
Each ring reveals more about how these tiny travellers move across the UK! ❤️‍🔥

Fireworks bring us moments of joy but cause lasting harm to wildlife.
Thermal imaging shows the distress spreading through our skies for months on end.
Isn’t it time we found a kinder, quieter way to celebrate? 🌱✨ @tj-focus.bsky.social @pulsarvisionukroi.bsky.social

Another incredible Redpoll recovery! 🔁

Re-caught by us on 18/10/25, helping build a fantastic picture of Redpoll movements across the UK! 🐦✨

It’s Halloween 👻 time for spooky fun! But remember: fake spider webs can trap and harm birds, bats & other wildlife. 🕸️
Keep your decorations safe by skipping webbing on trees & bushes. Let’s keep the scares fake, not fatal. 🦇🌿 #WildlifeFriendlyHalloween

Over 1,000 Redpoll ringed on Cannock Chase, Staffs and one had quite the story! 💫
Originally ringed on 01/10/25 in South Landing, Yorkshire 196 km away, it was recaptured by us just 13 days later. 🐦✨

From farmland to wetland 🌾➡️🌊 Thanks to @severnrivers we’ve transformed land near Draycote into a thriving wetland, soon to be alive with breeding and feeding waders.
Just one of the ways our team goes beyond bird ringing to support wildlife! 🐦

This week we ringed over 1000 Redpoll on Cannock chase in 5 sessions! The number of birds seen has been spectacular, but a lot have now moved on. In all of the birds ringed we only caught 3 that had been ringed elsewhere, but didn't recapture a single bird we ringed! #migration #birdringing

Big thanks to the Nuneaton Bird Club for a great evening! Loved sharing insights on thermal imaging for birding & ringing, and even more, the lively Q&A that followed. What a brilliant community of birders! 🦉🌙

✨Ever wondered what migration looks like at night? 🌌
We often sit under the stars with our @PulsarWild thermal camera, coffee in hand ☕, watching flocks glide silently overhead.
You hear one redwing, but in thermal, you see ten. Absolutely magical. 🐦‍⬛🫶

An unexpected addition to our thermal dazzling session with farmer Andy last night in Staffordshire, together with a Grey Partridge & 8 new Skylarks we found this October Quail! Our first ringed on the farm @thermal4birding.bsky.social @tj-focus.bsky.social

🐦💨 This tiny Blue Tit just blew our minds!
Caught at @soultonhall 28/09/25 wearing a ring… turns out it was originally ringed 120km away in Penallt, Monmouthshire 19/11/23.
That’s an epic journey for this species! 💙✨

✨ Barn owls are truly magical creatures. Last night at @SoultonHall we had the privilege of ringing two of them 🦉 with the help of thermal to monitor our nets, helping us learn more about the incredible wildlife thriving across this beautiful estate. 🌿💫
