SENTIMENTAL VALUE: Transfixing meditation on recovery, forgiveness, and forging a path ahead. Subtle and patient, it slowly but surely delivers its emotional blows in a restrained but devastating fashion. Completely moved by it and will be thinking about it all weekend.

CHRISTY: Easily Sydney Sweeney's best performance to date. Ben Foster is also unrecognizable (it took me a few scenes to recognize him) and outright despicable. These two do some heavy lifting for what is mostly a familiar set of sports cliches into something pretty solid.

ROOFMAN is quite a pleasant surprise. Totally forgot it was directed by Derek Cianfrance. The trailer does the movie a disservice. It's more dramatic than funny, which of course makes sense being from Cianfrance. Channing Tatum's best performance to date. A very pleasant surprise
