The scene was tired, restless kids, and a few tears. I felt myself getting frustrated. Then I shifted from an upset to empathetic and made a memory game with pollinator cards. Suddenly, everyone cheered each other on. Connection finds a way, even on tough days. #GreenLightPuppets

Day 3: A 1st-grader with big feelings was running, climbing, hitting, crying—trying to release what they don’t yet have words for. We stayed with her & helped name what she might be feeling. Sometimes the real lesson isn’t in the plan. Honestly? That’s the work I’m proudest of.

In my first week with the K–2 afterschool program, I saw how powerful Green Light Puppets is. Two kids' emotions were hurt—one over the artwork, another was called names. I helped them name their feelings, reminding them that their worth matters. They lit up & responded to my honesty & respect.
