They claim to represent farmers and rural communities - the type that are either in flood or drought - yet they oppose net zero and want to continue with delaying renewable energy roll-out.

Given who Trump is, my guess is that Zelenskyy’s people told Trump ahead of the meeting that Ukraine was not going to give the US its minerals without a reliable military guarantee.
Knowing the day was going to end without a deal, Trump and JD decided to maul Zelenskyy in full public view.
