I managed to bring my favorite dancing shoes ever back to life.. they were completely discolored and the soles were coming apart from dancing so much, but after an overnight oxiclean soak and a generous amount of e6000 adhesive they are shuffling like I remember again 🐾🦊

an easy repair for today; when the switch's battery drains below a critical level, the battery itself turns off its output, to protect from over-discharging and damaging the cell. the console can't charge it, and without disassembly, appears to be totally dead.. but all it needs is a little juice 🦊🧃

in all the switches I've worked on, this is the first one I have seen with ring fit adventure on it.. it really is such a charming and well-designed game that makes exercising feel accessible and rewarding, I highly recommend it 🦊👍

got this one reassembled and stress testing.. think I am going to take a break from the actual repair work for now and focus on listing the repaired units and otherwise getting ready for nfc
fell for the "quick" usb port replacement trap again.. they always seem to have torn pads like this. I didn't have any copper repair pads on hand, so I reused the ones that were pulled off. I'm glad I fixed it, but I could go a long time without doing another switch usb repair...

kind of a miserable repair day if I am honest.. spent all day on one unit that had a damaged charging port, replacing and reflowing it multiple times with no video output. exhausted, I shifted my focus to the video chip itself, which is my least favorite chip to replace.. it is finally working now

the left unit failed testing; the game was still running, but the hdmi signal had cut out, and returned after cooling down. I figured it was thermal expansion exposing a faulty signal line to the dock, and reflowed the port, hoping the issue wasn't internal. fortunately it seems to be fixed now 🦊👍
currently at six switches from that giant lot repaired and fully tested, and two set up for stress testing overnight. that is half of the units that I considered the "easy" ones, so not a bad pace for two days I think 🦊👍

finding a poorly seated LCD cable in my switch repairs is always a red flag.. the connectors on these are horrifically fragile, with two rows of bendable pins, top AND bottom. sometimes you can realign them with a needle, but if the ribbon was forced in, the connector often just needs to be replaced

and wouldn't you know it, one of the first few consoles I fixed from my recent repair lot had a copy of let's go pikachu on it! now that is some foxcellent timing 🦊👍
