Who else is listening to the new Kali Uchis album and literally sobbing during 'ILYSM', thinking about the babies being ripped away from their mamás and papás by these cruel 🧊 raids? 😭✊🏽

Check in on your immigrant-owned, small business friends. We are not ok. We've had to take a few days to process, make difficult decisions to preserve our mental health, all while trying to run an online business. 😢

POV: creative reuse aesthetic. We saw this planter growing in a repurposed tin can in an empty lot in Pátzcuaro, Michoacán. Simple. Functional. Inspiring.

Have you seen cool examples of reuse in your travels?

Them: Your plastic-free ayates are too expensive.
Us: Let's re-examine the definition of "expensive".

As our mamá used to say, "lo barato sale caro" (cheap things end up being expensive).

As children of immigrants, we often traveled to México. Those trips were so influential in shaping our world view. We learned about refilling, reusing, and caring for the planet from the perspective of being Mexicanas. Sustainable habits weren't out of shame or to be trendy. It was a way of life.

Palm trees in the Sierra Mixteca of Oaxaca to your home. We partner with the best palm weaving artisans to bring you these palm home goods, made to perfection, made to last. No plastic or synthetics. 100% native Mexican palm, grown and harvested sustainably in the backyard of the Familia Hernández.

Being in Michoacán feels like a deep warm hug from our abuelita. We're hearing people speak like her, we're eating the foods she loved, and seeing señoras dress like her. It's been 9 years since we lost her, and we still miss her so much.

In a world that's trying to make us small and erase us, we're here to remind you that we come from greatness. Our art and culture are gifts from the ancestors and ours to preserve.

Experiencing Mexican hospitality first-hand during our sourcing trip is like getting a hug we didn't know we needed. We're being welcomed into homes by virtual strangers, being offered refreshing treats, and getting treated like family by acquaintances... This reminds us of the best of humanity.

We just learned that two ethical, sustainable home goods stores (both e-commerce like us) are closing their doors. This isn't good for consumers or the planet. 💔 It also makes us feel like we're straight up delulu.

Years ago we found a piece of green plastic fuzz stuck to this wood spoon. Turns out it was from the plastic dish sponge we were using 🤢. It was eye opening to think of all the microplastics we were inadvertently ingesting from everyday routines.

This whole week we've started our day by checking the status of 3 packages held up by customs. Still held up, 48 hours after submitting all the additional paperwork. 😭

On the flip side, we've learned a ton. And this experience has only made us stronger.

Today, we're honoring the keepers of la cultura, the protectors of culture and the fighters against mass production. Qué vivan los artesanos! Happy día del artesano. Happy Artisans Day. Mexico

We were texting with the artisans who make our sacred lines collection and they shared that they pay 2-5x more for the premium, nontoxic cotton they use versus makers who sell only at mercados. Unfortunately, textiles in markets are now often made with polyester.

A lesson from indigenous creatives: accept that all natural resources are finite. Take less than you need. Let nature replenish after you take.

These Oaxacan Beeswax Candles (Velas de Concha) go back over 200 years. The glow emitted is believed to attract positive energy and ward off negative forces. Maybe we should've lit some before Nov 4, 2024. 🫠🕯️

Mexican design isn't one-dimensional or monolithic. We love black, gray and neutrals as much as we love bright Rosa Mexicano.

There are things that really don't need to be made with plastic. This agave fiber bottle brush is designed in collaboration with the Zapata family, who've been making agave products for decades. The wood and metal is upcycled from local carpentry shops.

One of our goals in the design process is to create pieces that are atemporal and can be used year-round. We want to bring you table top pieces that are functional for everyday use and elevated enough for dinner parties. Because ultimately, we need to buy less, but higher quality. 🌎

We are inspired and driven by stories like this one. This is EXACTLY why our work matters and is worth the struggle. Hijita is a Mexican chocolate brand we carry. Ashley & Dionisia are two women preserving authentic, ancestral cacao traditions.

Just two Mexican sisters trying to build a sustainable lifestyle brand and launch a Spring collection of gorgeous, handcrafted, Mexican home goods we've been designing for months. But these tariffs are diabolical. 😭
