Interesting that there are different pie crush wash options: egg, milk/cream, butter.
Going to try a heavy cream wash this time around. It is suppose to provide a more consistent golden brown look. Plus give to a matte finish. 👀

As the oven preheats, did some basic internet searching and apparently rhubarb has a high concentration of oxalic acid which gives its bitter flavor. Apparently calcium neutralizes the oxalate.
Guess this gives me an excuse to eat this pie à la mode. 🍨
