Thanks to how well Linux handles sleep I just used `acpi -V` on the freshly woken laptop to check the room temperature.

This work year started with Windows 11 rebooting my corporate laptop for updates right in the middle of my first work day disrupting my workflow. I don’t know why this is normalized.

BSD not Linux. And they dropped the ball massively with macOS 26, unfortunately.

Cinnamon is the closest DE to Win 7. So Linux Mint is a great choice. Runs like a charm on old ThinkPads.

For Christmas and Birthday I bought myself MSI Claw 8 AI+, a Lunar Lake handheld PC. It runs Skyrim and ESO in battery saver mode at 55+ fps and Starfield and Avowed on full power at 40+ fps. It seems my new year resolution is 1920*1200.

It’s called Starfield.

I would highly recommend at least using OpenMW or just DIY remaster it with Total Overhaul modlist from modding-openmw.com

This Christmas I learned in the not so hard but rather time-consuming way that OpenMW doesn’t play well with Intel drivers, at least on Lunar Lake, even on Windows. Total Overhaul modlist runs literally order of magnitude faster on Linux with comparable AMD chip.

It is the other way around: only sociopaths can make a billion dollars. No person on earth is so productive to produce such value with a honest labor.

Mosses are not fungi, nor bovines. All they can do is to lead you out of Egypt.

More like the opposite. The protest was largely anti corruption and pro-EU (“The West” is unfortunately a less monolithic thing this days than just a year ago). It also succeeded to some extent to lessen the grip on power of the pro-Russian oligarch Delyan Peevski.

If you want to do personal computing like it is XXI century, get a PC that can be powered by USB-C and a monitor that provides sufficient power over USB-PD. This is the 4th most impactful computer technology of this century after multi-core CPUs, SSDs, and 5G.

While OLED is great for content consumption good IPS is great for productivity. I have a pro-level IPS and good OLED and both are equally great.

I spent 14 euros this Black Friday and got the first three games from the Dragon Age series and the first three Mass Effect games. Haven’t played them yet. Ain’t gonna run out of quality entertainment this winter, it seems.

I wonder if anyone used “You’re gonna need a bigger cat 🦁” to advertise industrial robot vacuums?

This decade has definitely started with the pandemic. And then everything quickly went downhill. Wheeee!

The Lonesome Guild seems like a fun game so far. Similar in art style and mechanics to Tunic, plus the extra complexity of managing a group of characters. And the soundtrack is amazing.

Sometimes it feels like our society has unhealthy obsession with gender. There’s no valid reason for it to be THIS important.
