Sadly not captured in this wonderful picture, the first spectator shout of ‘Ha’way, why’re we not leaving at least one lad up front on set-pieces?’
Sunderland v Aston Villa, 1895.

Painted by Thomas M.M. Hemy, and considered to be one of if not the first painting of an Association Rules football match.

This match took place at Sunderland's former Newcastle Road ground, and finished 4-4.

It’s growing on me.
Not sure about the shoulders or the centralised badge but it is growing on me.

A lot better than our fever-dream of a 3rd kit, although that’s a low bar.
Our new shirt has been flying out over the last 24 hours.

Over a year since leaving Twitter – no regrets, but still don't feel especially settled in here on BlueSky...

However, I just found the folder with all the gifs, videos and clips from Rovers' 1997-98 season.

Think it could be time to bring THAT thread over onto this platform.

Football at all levels has a dangerously insane relationship with its referees, but in non-league it also comes with a chasm between reality and foaming Twitter activists who've never been to a game.

This week's newsletter is on the AFC Rushden & Diamonds v Coventry Sphinx match abandonment.
Rushden & Diamonds match abandonment was the right response from the referee. Non-league deserves a better reaction.
The idiotic opinions of social media meatheads have no bearing on football safeguarding in the real world

Chesterfield away then.
A tricky draw and, as our recent form against them suggests, very losable.
I really hope they’ve chosen to concentrate on the league this year.
